How Freight Shipment Works

Last updated: March 3, 2026

Many larger grills, fire pits, and outdoor products sold by Smokeforges ship through LTL freight carriers due to their size and weight. This page explains what to expect during the freight delivery process.

Scheduling Your Delivery Appointment

Once your shipment arrives at the freight terminal nearest to your delivery address, the freight carrier will contact you directly to schedule a delivery appointment.

Freight deliveries generally require a confirmed appointment before delivery can be completed.

Please ensure the phone number provided at checkout is accurate and reachable during business hours.

If you have not been contacted after receiving tracking information, contact Smokeforges so we can assist with carrier follow-up.

Delivery appointments are typically available Monday through Friday.

Delivery windows may vary depending on the freight carrier and delivery region.

Missed Appointments & Storage Fees

Freight terminals may apply storage fees or re-delivery fees if delivery appointments are missed or delayed.

Customers are encouraged to respond promptly to carrier scheduling calls to help avoid additional carrier charges.

Apartment, Gated Community & Access Restrictions

Freight trucks may not be able to access certain locations, including:

  • Apartment complexes
  • Gated communities
  • Narrow roads or driveways
  • Locations without suitable freight truck access

If you are unsure whether a freight truck can access your location, contact Smokeforges before placing your order.

Before Your Delivery — Preparation Checklist

To help prepare for delivery:

  • Ensure you are available during the scheduled delivery window
  • Measure gates, walkways, and access points if needed
  • Clear a path for moving the item after delivery
  • Arrange assistance for moving heavy products
  • Have a phone or camera available to photograph the shipment upon arrival

Safety Advisory: Some products are heavy and may require multiple adults to move safely after delivery.

Curbside Delivery Details

Freight deliveries are generally curbside or driveway delivery only.

The freight driver is generally not responsible for:

  • Indoor placement
  • Assembly or installation
  • Removal of packaging materials
  • Moving products beyond the delivery area

Keep Original Packaging

Please retain original packaging materials until you have inspected and accepted your order.

Original packaging may be required for freight damage claims or returns.

Inspecting Your Freight Delivery

Please inspect your shipment before signing the delivery receipt.

We recommend the following:

  1. Verify all items and components are present
  2. Inspect packaging for visible shipping damage
  3. Photograph the shipment before unpacking
  4. Note visible damage with the delivery carrier if applicable
  5. Report damage promptly to Smokeforges with photos and order details

If severe shipping damage is visible, you may refuse the shipment and contact Smokeforges immediately.

Our Commitment

Smokeforges works directly with freight carriers and brand partners to coordinate deliveries and assist customers with freight-related issues when needed.
