At Smokeforges, we specialize in premium, high-demand outdoor fire and cooking equipment. Many of the brands we carry produce their products through artisan and small-batch manufacturing in the United States. As a result, certain items may periodically become unavailable and be placed on backorder.
Our goal is to provide full transparency throughout the backorder process so you can make informed decisions, plan your projects, and understand what to expect from the moment you place your order until delivery.
What a Backorder Means
A backorder occurs when a product is temporarily out of stock at the manufacturer or warehouse but is still available for purchase with a future fulfillment date. This typically happens due to production schedules, material availability, seasonal demand, or shipping constraints.
When an item is listed as backordered, the estimated availability or lead time will be displayed on the product page or communicated to you within 1–2 business days of your order being placed.
How Backorders Work
When you place an order for a backordered item, your payment is processed to secure your position in the manufacturer's fulfillment queue. This allows Smokeforges to reserve inventory for you as soon as the next production run is completed and the product becomes available.
Once inventory is released to Smokeforges or our authorized fulfillment partners, your order is prepared for shipment in the order it was received, subject to standard handling and carrier scheduling.
Price Lock Guarantee: The price you pay at the time of your order is locked in and will not increase, even if the product price changes before your item ships. You will always be charged the price confirmed at checkout.
Partial Orders
If your order contains both in-stock and backordered items, Smokeforges will ship your available in-stock items immediately according to standard handling timelines. Your backordered item will ship separately once it becomes available at no additional shipping charge, unless otherwise communicated. You will receive separate tracking numbers for each shipment.
Estimated Timelines and Updates
Estimated arrival times are provided by our brand partners and manufacturers based on their current production and logistics schedules. These estimates may change due to factors such as:
- Manufacturing delays or material shortages
- Port congestion or freight carrier scheduling
- Weather-related disruptions
- Quality control processes at the factory level
Smokeforges will communicate any significant changes to your estimated timeline by email within 1–2 business days of receiving updated information from our brand partners or manufacturers.
Maximum Backorder Period: If your backordered item has not shipped within 120 days of your original order date, our team will proactively contact you by email with a status update and present you with all available options, including switching to an in-stock alternative or receiving a full refund. You do not need to wait — you may contact us at any time for a status update.
Your Options While on Backorder
If your order is on backorder, you have the following options available at any time before the item ships:
Stay the Course
You may keep your order active. We will continue to monitor the manufacturer's timeline and provide updates as they become available. Your item will ship as soon as inventory is released and processed for fulfillment.
Switch to an In-Stock Item
If you prefer not to wait, our support team can help you select a comparable in-stock product. Any difference in price will be clearly communicated before changes are finalized.
Request a Full Refund
You may request a full refund at any time before the backordered item has shipped. No restocking or administrative cancellation fees apply to unshipped backorders. Refunds are processed within 7 business days of your request to the original payment method used at checkout. Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to post the credit.

Payment and Authorization
By placing an order for a backordered item, you authorize Smokeforges to process payment to secure your place in the fulfillment queue. This ensures inventory allocation once the product becomes available.
If your payment method requires reauthorization due to an extended backorder period, our support team will contact you to confirm or update your payment information. If reauthorization is unsuccessful after reasonable attempts to reach you, your backorder reservation may be canceled and your position in the fulfillment queue forfeited. Smokeforges will notify you by email before taking any such action.
Chargebacks: If you have a concern about your backorder, we strongly encourage you to contact us directly at info@smokeforges.com or 833-777-2962 before initiating a chargeback with your bank or payment provider. We are committed to resolving all backorder issues promptly. Chargebacks filed while a valid backorder resolution is actively in progress may be reviewed and disputed in accordance with payment processor guidelines.
Shipping and Delivery After Backorder
Once your backordered item becomes available, it will be processed according to our standard handling and shipping timelines. Tracking information will be sent to the email address on file within 24 hours of shipment.

Limitations and Exceptions
Backordered items are subject to availability from the manufacturer. In rare cases where a product is discontinued or production is halted, Smokeforges will notify you within 1–2 business days of receiving that information and provide available alternatives or a full refund with no fees applied.
Backorder fulfillment is prioritized based on the order in which purchases are received, subject to manufacturer release schedules and carrier capacity.

Governing Terms
