Unlike the round BBQ98SS and BBQ99SS warming roof grills (which are model-specific to the BBQ09SS and BBQ23SS/BBQ25SS respectively), the BBQ52SS is a rectangular rack designed to span the width of the cooking area on Tagwood's freestanding Santa Maria grills.

The rack occupies a fixed elevated position above the primary grate, creating a secondary tier where items can be held at a lower temperature than the main cooking surface below. In practice, this serves three functions during a cook session: resting finished proteins while other items continue cooking on the main grate, warming bread or tortillas with residual rising heat without direct flame exposure, and staging items that need a gentler finish after an initial sear — such as moving thick-cut steaks up to the rack after browning to let them coast to final temperature without overcooking the exterior.

The warming rack integrates with the grill's existing structure and does not interfere with the main grate's height-adjustment mechanism. The 304 stainless steel construction handles sustained high-heat exposure and resists corrosion from weather and grease contact over repeated use.
