The grill that started Tagwood
The BBQ03SS is Tagwood's original Santa Maria grill and still the most direct way into Argentine live-fire cooking: a 304 stainless steel cart with a brasero on the left, a wheel-adjustable main grate in the middle and hooks overhead. Four cooking zones and 710 sq. in. of surface, in a footprint that fits a regular patio.
01 · Brasero and secondary grate
Sear right over the flame
Wood or charcoal lights quickly in the brasero, which keeps open flame away from the main cooking area. The 9" x 17" height-adjustable secondary grate sits directly above it, so you can sear a steak over live fire while the embers for the main grate are still forming.
Firebricks line the base to spread heat evenly under the grate and protect the stainless body, and the front access door lets you tend the fire without reaching over the food.
02 · Elevation system
Control heat by distance
Turn the wheel and the 33.75" x 16.5" main grate travels from 2.75" to 20.75" above the coals. Drop it low for a hard crust, lift it high to render fat slowly and finish gently, all without moving the food or the fire.
Elevation system: Right side vs Frontal
Both layouts raise and lower the same grate through the same range. Tagwood does not publish a separate clearance figure for the wheel, so leave open working space on the side where it sits and follow the installation clearances in the BBQ03SS manual.
03 · Four cooking zones
Room to cook the whole meal
Beyond the main and secondary grates, an interchangeable griddle drops in alongside the round main grates for vegetables, eggs or provoleta, and stainless S-hooks hang chorizo, ribs and peppers in the warm air above the fire.
04 · Cart and wheels
Built to roll, built to stay put
The stainless cart carries an attached side table for prep, a built-in bottle opener and a lower shelf for firewood. Swivel casters, two with brakes, let you move 362 lb across the patio and lock it in place before the fire is lit.
