A substantial integrated Rain Drain lets water flow through instead of pooling inside the bowl. Every Patriot now ships with a 4″ Round Blocking Plate and Standard-Length Centering Tee, so you can close off the drain when you'd rather keep ash from falling through. Constructed from 3/16″ or 1/4″ steel depending on size.
The Patriot is built and shipped as a wood-burning fire pit — but its 1″ drain opening doubles as a path to route a natural gas line straight through the bowl. Many owners adapt their Patriot this way and enjoy the convenience of an on-demand gas flame at the turn of a valve.
Good to know: Ohio Flame ships the Patriot as a wood-burning pit and does not perform or customize gas conversions. It ships as a wood-burning pit, but the 1″ drain opening lets owners route a gas line through the bowl. Ohio Flame doesn't perform the conversion, so it's done at your discretion — we recommend a licensed gas pro to install it safely and to code.
The Natural Steel finish is meant to weather. It forms a protective iron-oxide patina that darkens over time and protects the steel underneath, so the Patriot is designed to live outdoors year-round.
