The original Santa Maria layout, in black steel
The BBQ03SI is Tagwood's Chief Series take on the BBQ03SS: the same four-zone Santa Maria layout, built from 1/8" cold-rolled steel with a high-temperature coating for an all-black finish. Everything that touches food, from the grates to the hooks, is 304 stainless steel.
01 · Brasero and front door
Choose the metal that faces the fire
The brasero lights wood or charcoal quickly and keeps the flames beside the grate. As standard it is cold-rolled steel like the body; Tagwood notes that cold-rolled steel can develop surface rust over time, most of all in the firebox where heat is highest and in humid climates.
The 304 stainless brazier and front door option puts stainless steel exactly where the fire works hardest. The updated front door has exterior bolts and a non-flush design.
02 · Main grate and elevation
Heat set by height
The 33.75" x 16.5" main grate travels from 2.75" to 20" above the coals on Tagwood's elevation system. Lower it to sear, raise it to slow down, and leave the fire where it is.
03 · Four cooking zones
Stainless wherever food touches
Four zones and 710 sq. in. in total: the main grate, a 9" x 17" height-adjustable secondary grate over the brasero, an interchangeable griddle and S-shaped hooks for hanging cuts. The grates, griddle, hooks, shovel and poker are all 304 stainless steel.
04 · Cart and wheels
Heavy, and easy to move
A reinforced frame carries the 401 lb grill on four 6" swivel casters, two of them locking, with a side table for prep and a lower shelf for firewood.
